The Mets (17-15) open a three-game series against the Reds (8-26) at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati on Monday night at 7:10 on SNY.

Who is starting tonight for the Mets?

LHP P.J. Conlon, who will be making his major league debut. Conlon is starting in place of Jacob deGrom, who is expected to return from the 10-day DL and start on Sunday against the Phillies in Philadelphia. 

The 24-year-old Conlon has a 6.75 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 24.0 innings this season for Triple-A Las Vegas in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. He had a 3.38 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 108 strikeouts in 136.0 innings for Double-A Binghamton in 2017.

Conlon will become the first Irish-born big leaguer since 1945, when Joe Cleary made one relief appearance for the Washington Senators. 



Who is starting tonight for the Reds? 

RHP Homer Bailey (4.81 ERA/5.67 FIP, 1.25 WHIP in 39.1 innings over seven starts), who allowed five runs on six hits while walking one and striking out one in 5.0 innings against the Brewers on May 1.

Bailey has struck out just 22 batters this season while walking 12.
