Dillon Gee went 5 2/3 innings and let up 5 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
Ruben Tejada went 1 for 2 with 2 walks and his first stolen base of the season.
Daniel Murphy had 2 hits.
Dillon Gee had control issues tonight. He didn’t have anything with the walks, but he threw 4 wild pitches tonight. I would be shocked if he had thrown 4 all year. His curveball looked like he could not control it. Good work though 5 today though, everything fell apart in the 6th inning.
Ruben Tejada did a real gutsy thing today and stole third down 6 with 2 outs. He made it safely, but you can’t steal 3rd down by 6. You never want to make the first or third out of an inning at third base. It is something he has to learn and I’m sure TC will talk to him about it.
Murphy has been a hits machine since he has had a full time starting job. I really like what he has done this year.
Daniel Murphy had a huge game going 2 for 2 with a solo homer and a 2 run double in the 8th and 9th inning.
R.A. Dickey started for the Mets and went 6 2/3 innings let up 8 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts.
Hu hit a game tying sac fly and Turner had an RBI single.
Bay and Ike each had 2 hits.
Wright, Reyes, Harris, and Nickeas all had hits.
Igarashi, K-rod, and Beato all had scoreless outings.
Dickey looked really good tonight. He had his control back and pitched well. He kept the Mets in the game.
Bay has been a catalyst for this club since the moment he stepped foot in the diamond. Different player so far in 2011.
Reyes hit a ball today and went for a triple but was called for oversliding the bag for the second out of the 8th inning. Reyes flipped, Terry was out there before you could blink and no body got thrown out because it was such a bad call. Seriously a different situation and they might have been out of the game. Chip Hale had to hold Reyes back from the Umpire.
Daniel Murphy’s home run was huge for the Mets tying the game after the terrible call on Reyes. Gave everyone Mets related energy and in my opinion won the game.
What a game for the Mets, it seemed all the air was taken out of the balloon when Reyes was called out but Murphy came up and hit the homer and right there when I saw the energy from everybody I knew we were going to win this game. Even down one in the 9th after the unearned run, I still felt something special for this game. That Murphy home run just…words can not describe his performance tonight.
AMAZIN’ NIGHT METS! LETS GO! 6 IN A ROW!
Grade for the Game: A+ (It takes a lot to get an A+ out of me)
Niese started tonight and pitched okay going 6 innings, letting up 2 runs, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
Carlos Beltran hit is 3rd home run of the year.
Pagan and Ike both hit doubles.
Beato and Buchholz pitched a scoreless inning each.
Igarashi, Byrdak, and Parnell combined for 1 inning, 5 hits, 3 runs, and a balk.
Until he proves it to me, Beltran has no power from the left side anymore.
Niese had control issues all game and went way over 100 pitches to get through 6 which I really like.
Now for Bobby Parnell…what are we going to do with you? That balk just pushed me over the line of frustration with the way this team is playing. Why in your right mind would you come into a bases loaded 2 out situation and BALK in a run. I mean that is minor league play. Then letting up more hits and a few more runs inexcusable. Parnell didn’t have the only crappy play of the night either. Scott Hairston flat out dropped a ball in left field off the bat of Carlos Lee that might have saved a run. Errors by outfielders are simply uncalled for more than infielders in my mind. Now for the umpires, the play at second base where they called it an out and a drop on the transfer was simply bull. There was no way that was a catch, get some sense umps. That is one instance where I would be fine letting my manager get thrown out of a game.
