Well, it is the postseason again and the Mets aren’t in it…anyway, that doesn’t mean that I can’t predict the outcome. Let me say something first, these were picked this afternoon, I just had time to write it now. Here we go…
Texas vs. Tampa- My pick is the Rays. There is too much magic going on with that team for them to lose this fast.
Detroit vs. New York- I pick the Tigers. The Yankees pitching will let them down in my opinion.
St. Louis vs. Philadelphia- I’m gonna surprise here and pick the Cards. They are on fire and I think they can pull off the upset. Maybe I just hate the Phils too.
Arizona vs. Milwaukee- The Brewers will win this series. They are too good.
Detroit vs. Tampa- I pick Detroit here because of Doug Fister.
St. Louis vs. Milwaukee- Milwaukee will overwhelm the Cardinals and go to the fall classic.
Detroit vs. Milwaukee- There will be a parade for Fielder before he walks this offseason. Milwaukee is so deep in every aspect.
Angel Pagan went 4 for 6 with 4 RBI including 2 doubles.
Daniel Murphy drove in 4 runs on 2 clutch 2 run singles with the bases loaded and 2 outs.
Jason Bay went 1 for 2 with 4 walks and an RBI single.
Wow…that is all I can say, WOW.
This team is doing everything right. They are working the count and just hitting line drives. This team is so clutch getting endless hits with 2 outs and RISP. This is the most I have enjoyed watching this team in a long time.
Pagan is starting to get some hits off of left handed pitchers, that is great for him to start getting hot.
Cap was good tonight, his only blemish was 2 Miguel Cabrera homers.
The Mets were 10-17 with 2 outs tonight, that is a huge number.
Tonight the Mets scored all because of a big night from Jose Reyes. He got 3 hits with a triple, single, and a home run. It is the second day in a row the Mets have been close to the cycle. Ike Davis also went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and David Wright got a run scoring hit. Jesus Feliciano hit an RBI ground out, to add to the Met lead.
R.A. Dickey was simply amazing tonight. He went 8 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. He should have gone for a complete game, but K-Rod needed work. K-Rod did pitch a scoreless 9th to win the game.
Grade for the Game: A+
A shutout for the Mets and another great start from R.A Dickey tonight. He is now the first Met ever to go 6-0 in his first 7 starts. Mets offense players, especially Jose Reyes got the job done tonight and got the win for this team tonight.
For these types of games I like to just go through the box score to show what everyone did. Jose Reyes led off tonight going 3 for 6 with an RBI and a stolen base. Angel Pagan had a 4 for 6 night driving in 4 runs and going a homer away from the cycle. David Wright went 3 for 3 with 2 walks and NO strikeouts. Ike Davis went 3 for 6 with 3 RBIs. Bay went 1 for 2 with 2 walks with 2 RBIs and no strikeouts tonight to. Rod Barajas went 0 for 2 with 2 walks. Francoeur went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Tejada went 1 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, and 1 walk. Jon Niese came up twice and struck out twice.
Jon Niese looked to continue his dominance until he came back out after the rain delay. Before the rain delay he gave up no hits and no runs. But after the delay he let up 6 runs to the Tigers. Nieve was great in relief, and Parnell and Igarashi all pitched scoreless innings.
Grade for the Game: A+
Verlander is a sensational pitcher and the Mets hit him hard. He gave up 9 runs in his start tonight. Each of the 4 Mets hitters all had 3+ hits and all the Met hitters, besides Barajas, had at least 1 hit. No rain delay can stop the Mets. Keep the bats going guys.
