Mets Post Game: Mets 5, Marlins 1

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Dillon Gee went 6 innings let up 6 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.
  2. Ruben Tejada went 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 runs scored.
  3. David Wright went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

Ruben Tejada has been absolutely spectacular since his recall from Buffalo. He has continued to hit and make spectacular plays like the one he did at first base. Great barehanded play by the youngster.

Dillon Gee was great tonight mixing up his pitches and keeping the fish off balance.

Manny Acosta was great, and wild tonight. He struck out 3 but was inches away from hitting Mike Stanton in the head.

Welcome back Jose!

Grade for the Game: A+

Mets Post Game: Mets 8, D-Backs 4

The Numbers:

  • Jon Niese started today and went 7 innings, 6 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
  • David Wright went 2 for 4 with 2 homers, 3 RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.
  • Jason Pridie hit a 3 run homer for his first big league homer.
  • Beltran and Ike each had 2 hits and a double.
  • Reyes and Bay had a hit each.
  • Byrdak, Carrasco, and Igarashi finished up the game.

Niese looked really good today using his four seamer more than usual. He brought the walks down from his last start.

It’s great that David Wright showing power, proving 2009 was a fluke.

I know everybody is saying it, but Bay in this lineup makes everything feel different.

Ike Davis is the hands down MVP of this club so far this year.

First sweep of the year… this looks like the Mets at home from last year.

Grade for the Game: A-

Mets Post Game’s: Braves 4 Mets 2, Braves 4 Mets 0

Game 1 Numbers:

  • Carrasco started and went 3 2/3 innings, 4hits, 3 runs,  3 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
  • Misch gave up a run in 2 innings of work today.
  • Igarashi and Parnell had scoreless outings, Igarashi went 1/3 of and inning and Parnell went 2 innings.
  • Reyes and Harris each had RBI hits.
  • Beltran, Pagan, Thole, and Hairston all had hits.

Game 2 Numbers:

  • Harris and Murphy had the only 2 hits of game 2.
  • Mike Pelfrey started and went 5 innings, 11 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
  • Pedro Beato pitched 2 perfect innings striking out 3.
  • Buchholz pitched a perfect inning striking out 1.

Daniel Murphy tried to steal 3rd with 0 outs and was thrown out by a mile. Are you kidding me? Down by 3 runs also? Unacceptable.

Carrasco was ok in a spot start, but Mike Pelfrey gave up 11 hits. That’s way to many in 5 innings of work.

The  Mets can’t throw out a baserunner.

TOO MANY MENTAL MISTAKES.

On a brighter note, Pedro Beato has been great all season long.

Also, are you freaking kidding me Braves?  Scheduling a double-header against a team that just had one on Thursday. That is just ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not making excuses. I just thought what the Braves did was cheap and childish, trying to take advantage of a tired team and frankly, risking the health of some players. I would be fine if it was a Central team because the Mets would not have come back there. But, no they come back to Atlanta ALOT. I’m sorry but this whole day was completely bull, the Mets played awful but I am just pissed off at the Braves. The commissioners office should defiantly do something about this.

Mets Post Game: Mets 8, Pirates 7

The Numbers:

  1. Jenrry Mejia started going 2 1/3 innings letting up 0 hits, 1 run (unearned), 2 walks, and a strikeout. He left the game with an injury.
  2. Jose Reyes got 2 hits including a solo home run.
  3. Valdes, Misch, Dessens, Feliciano, Parnell, and Takahashi finished off the game.
  4. Ike Davis got an RBI double, Hessman got an RBI hit, Pagan had 2 RBI, and Arias got an RBI.
  5. Takahashi is 7 for 7 in save chances this year.

The Mets were down 5-0 in this game before they came back  with a 7 run inning.

I hope hope hope Mejia is okay. I would be okay if he was shut down for the rest of the year as a precautionary reason.

If the Mets could finish hot this year, it could carry over to 2011.

This was the first 3 game winning streak for the Mets since spring.

Grade for the Game: A-

Mets Post Game: Mets 11, Orioles 4

What’s Important:

Hitting:

Every Met starter had a hit today. The Mets had the long ball working very well today. David Wright was great today hitting 2 homers, Jason Bay hit a homer, and Chris Carter went deep. Reyes went 2 for 5, Feliciano had 2 hits, and Cora had 3 hits. Jason Bay today also was 4 for 4.

Pitching:

Mike Pelfrey went through what people call his “dead arm period” today but, still was effective. He went 6 innings, 9 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 1 strikeout. His fastball was barely above 91 mph and he could not throw his curveball for strikes. He got his 9th win of the year. Mejia gave up a run in the 7th but, Igarashi and Valdes combined for a perfect 8th and 9th.

Grade for the Game: A

I was very impressed that even though Pelfrey labored he still only gave up 3 runs. The offense today was spectacular, especially David Wright and Jason Bay. Chris Carter has also shown power off the bench as he hit another homer today. The Mets have swept the Orioles.

Mets Post Game: Mets 7, Marlins 6

What’s Important:

Hitting:

The offense today was all about comebacks and hitting in big spots. Angel Pagan had a big 2 run single today. However, Jeff Francoeur stayed hot going 2 for 4 with a big 3 run home run and a double. David Wright went 3 for 4 with 0 RBIs.

Pitching:

Hisanori Takahashi is worse than how he pitched. He went 6 innings and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits. He gave up a 3 run home run in the 6th innings. Igarashi gave up a run but, Dessens and Feliciano combined for a scoreless 8th. K-Rod gave up a hit, but nailed down the save in the 9th.

Grade for the Game: B+

Although the pitching was not good the Mets did one thing today. They got that one big hit that Jerry has been talking about to come back and win the game. The Mets swept the Marlins.

Mets Post Game: Mets 3, Phillies 0…Unbelieveable

What’s Important:

Hitting:

The Mets offense tonight was good enought to get 3 runs on 9 hits. The big hit of the night was by Jose Reyes who went 3 for 4 with a 2 run double. The other run was driven in by Jason Bay with an RBI double. Pagan got 2 hits, and Ike Davis got one hit tonight.

Pitching:

Double play, double play, double play…Mets got 3 huge double plays that stopped the Phillies from scoring. Pelfrey pitched 7 shutout innings giving up 4 hits, walked 5, and struck out 5. He did not have his best stuff and still shutout the Phillies. Feliciano pitched a scoreless 8th and K-Rod a scoreless 9th.

Grade for the Game: A+

It should be obvious this would be an A+. The Mets shutout the NL’s best offense for 3 straight games. This is the first time since the Mets last did it when they did it to a slightly worse Phily ballclub the days after they clinched the division. No words can describe how the Mets did this series.
