The Numbers:
- Jon Niese started for the Mets and went 5 2/3 innings while giving up 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
- Ike Davis hit a line drive homerun into right field. It was a bullet.
- Jason Pridie somehow still has power as he hit his 3rd big league homer. A go-ahead 3 run homer.
- Jose Reyes went 3 for 4 with 2 triples and a double.
- Jason Bay had 2 hits and an RBI single.
- Carlos Beltran had a hit and a sac fly.
Ike Davis’ homers always go farther than expected. He gets amazing carry on his balls. This one didn’t need it, it got out in a hurry.
Jon Niese struggled in the first, but really settled down afterwards. After a 30 pitch first he got through 5 2/3 and could have gone 6.
The bullpen was great tonight. Iggy, Izzy, and Frankie all pitched well.
Jose Reyes is electric. Seriously he is an amazing player. I can’t describe the emotion and energy when he is in the lineup.
The Mets are 9-3 with Jason Bay in the lineup.
