Mets Post Game: Brewers 6, Mets 1

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Angel Pagan went 3 for 4 tonight.
  2. Ruben Tejada went 2 for 3.
  3. Mike Pelfrey gave up 3 earned runs in 5 innings of work. He walked 4 and struck out 4.

I am tired of Mike Pelfrey…he has no out pitch. He has a great sinker/fastball but all of his other pitches are crap. I don’t know if he can be good again.

Tejada and Pagan hit well tonight…so that’s a good thing.

Oh and by the way, what Fielder did was ridiculous. Don’t charge Byrdak.

That felt WAY longer than the west coast games that we played earlier.

Mets Post Game: Giants 3, Mets 1

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Capuano started and was great. He went 6 innings, let up 2 runs on 4 hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.
  2. Daniel Murphy went 1 for 4 with an RBI double.
  3. Josh Thole went 1 for 2 with a double.

Capuano was great tonight. After a rough first inning of getting the ball stung, he really settled down and kept the giants at bay. I honestly thought after the first inning tonight, he was in for a 3 or 4 inning start. Very tough loss for Capuano tonight.

All of the Mets hits tonight were 2 out doubles. Kind of strange how things work out that way.

The rules with aces are that if you don’t get to them in the first, you probably won’t get to him at all. This happened tonight as the Mets got 1 run off Lincecum in the first, however it was not enough as he shut them down for the rest of his start.

Sidenote:

Congrats to Derek Jeter on his 3000th career hit and an outstanding game. Being a baseball fan, I really enjoy that type of history. Also, Jeter is one of the few Yankees I have respect for, he’s a classy guy who plays the game the right way even during the steroid era. Send all the hate you want, I am happy for Jeter.

Mets Post Game: Mets 4, Braves 0

By the Numbers:

  • Gee Started and gave up 1 hit, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts over 4 innings. He had to come out due to the rain delay.
  • Angel Pagan had 2 hits including a 2 run homer that was helped by the gushing winds at Turner Field.
  • Jason Bay had 2 hits today. A step in the right direction!
  • Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI groundout.
  • Ruben Tejada had an RBI on an error in the first.
  • Carrasco and Parnell each pitched 2 innings, Parnell struck out 5 batters out of 6 outs total.
  • K-Rod got another game finished pitching the 9th.

I felt awful for Gee this start, he looked great and was one inning away from a win. However, he still was great letting up only 1 hit over 4 innings. He was himself again and deserved a win, oh well.

Angel Pagan hit such a high homer tonight that would probably have not gone out if the wind was not swirling, good job anyways.

The bullpen dazzled tonight going 5 shutout innings. Parnell stood out the most because he had been struggling the most and he struck out 5 batters in 2 innings.

Jason Bay was great with his 2 hits tonight, could get him back on track…maybe.

Mets Post Game: Mets 4, Dodgers 2

The Numbers:

  • Dillon Gee started for the Mets and went 5 2/3 good innings letting up 7 hit, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
  • Justin Turner hit a go ahead, pinch hit, 400 ft, 2 run single to give the Mets the lead in the bottom of the 8th.
  • Jason Pridie went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored.
  •  Reyes went had 2 hits and an RBI single.
  • Wright, Beltran, and Murphy each had a hit tonight.
  • O’Connor, Iggy, Byrdak, and K-Rod all had scoreless outings.

For being a spot starter, and a guy who needs awhile to warm up, Dillon Gee pitched great. 5 1/3 innings and kept the Mets in the game, that is all you can ask in a situation like that.

Turner’s “single” was huge tonight. I put single in quotes because it was 400ft deep into center field. My guess is that he starts tomorrow against Kershaw.

The amazing Reyes scuffled a little on the basepaths, but in all he had another good game. He is starting to get those hits with RISP.

The bullpen was fantastic tonight, especially getting out of their own jams.

Jason Pridie continues to surprise me, he just continues to make good plays in center, and hit a little bit to the surprise of most.

Also, the Mets ended Andre Ethier’s hitting streak at 30 tonight.

Mets Post Game: Mets 4, D-Backs 1

The Numbers:

  • Mike Pelfrey started and posted a line of 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
  • Ike Davis hit a go ahead 2 run home run in the 7th inning that just cleared the orange line in center field.
  • Carlos Beltran went 1 for 3 with an RBI single.
  • Jason Bay hit a double and struck out twice.
  • Reyes, Murphy, and Nickeas also had hits tonight.
  • Wright went o for 2 with 2 walks and a steal.
  • Izzy pitched a scoreless 8th and K-Rod pitched a scoreless 9th to get the save.

This was a huge start for Mike Pelfrey, after runners were on first and third with nobody out to start the game, he retired the side without a run scoring including a strikeout of Justin Upton. This was also a team that he has never beat, until tonight. He looked so much better tonight than he has all of this year. Hopefully this will stay.

Ike has been such a clutch hitter all year hitting a huge homer to straight away center field. He is leading the Mets in RBI this season.

This lineup looks more confident with Bay in that they feel they can score whenever. Hopefully Bay can show us some power this year.

Izzy has been a force in the ‘pen this year showing that he is not done yet in the majors.
