MNN’s World Series Prediction

Well, I did well through the Division series picking 3 of 4 teams, but, the CS did not go as well as both teams I picked did not make it through. This toughens things, the Cardinals or the Rangers. Let’s do comparisons first…

Bullpen:

Advantage Rangers. First of all, the Caridnals’ closer Motte, can not yet be trusted in big situations while Neftali can. Also, I would rather Adams, Uehara, and Ogando in the late innings over Dotel, Salas, and Rzepczenski(???).

Leadoff Men: Furcal vs. Kinsler.

Kinsler. Easy. The man is a beast.

Middle of the Lineup:

This one has to go to the Birds. I feel that Hamilton will struggle and the combined power of Pujols, Berkman, and Holliday is a scary post season tandem.

Overall Offense:

Texas. They are too deep for the Cards. Outside of Pujols, Berkman, Holliday, and Freese..the Cards have nothing on Texas.

Starting Pitching:

This one is tough. I almost want to call a draw, but I cant. Carpenter is better than Wilson, so that goes to the birds there. However the rest is Holland, Lewis, and Harrison Vs. Garcia, Jackson, and Lohse. To me, since I think pitchers will excel in this series, I have to give the advantage to the Rangers because of A, the lineup they have to pitch through and B, they have power arms. It is really a toss up though.

WORLD SERIES PREDICTION.

The Fall Classic will be 7 games long.

There will be a parade for Nolan Ryan through Texas.

Rangers in 7…write it down.

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Jason Bay went 3 for 4 with 3 singes.
  2. Manny Acosta gave up 4 runs in less than 2 innings.
  3. Ruben Tejada had an RBI single.

Pelfrey wasn’t terrible toinght, he gave up 3 of his runs in the first and then settled down a little bit walking only 2 on the night. He has really turned his season around from his rough start early in the year.

It was really good to see Jason Bay do very well again. Maybe it is just facing AL pitchers again. Remember he hit a homer (almost 2) against CLE earlier in the year and hit 2 against NYY last season. Very strange if you ask me.

Manny Acosta is simply a bad pitcher, no other way to say it.

My World Series

The other day i became 2 for 2 in my LCS predictions picking the Rangers over the Yankees and the Giants over the Philies. Picking against 2 teams you hate is easy, but now my world series pick is tougher. For games 1-4 I believe Lee will beat Lincecum, Cain will beat Wilson, Lewis will beat Sanchez, and Bumgarner will beat Hunter. Great a 2-2 series gets me absolutely no where. I believe this series will go 7 games and the TEXAS RANGERS will be getting their first world series in franchise history this year. Hopefully, I’ll be a good 3 for 3.

Cliff Lee Will NOT Be A Met…Or a Yankee

All day and night it was reported that the Yankees were on the brink of acquiring ANOTHER superstar pitcher. It was reported that Lee would be a Yankee but, thankfully the Mariners denied the trade over concerns about David Adams’ health. What a relief for baseball. They do not need any more pitchers.

So the question is where is Lee going? Cliff Lee will be a Texas Ranger. The trade was just official minutes ago and it includes prospect first baseman Justin Smoak. Thank god he will not a Yankee… hello Roy Oswalt, Ted Lilly, or Dan Haren.
