Mets Post Game: Pirates 3, Mets 1

By the Numbers:

  • Mike Pelfrey went 7 innings, let up 4 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, and 6 strikeouts.
  • Jose Reyes was hitless with a sac fly.
  • Daniel Murphy had 2 hits and is now hitting .305 on the year.
  • Tejada and Duda had a hit each.
  • Byrdak walked in the 3rd run with the bases loaded.

Mike Pelfrey was so good tonight, he retired 21 of his final 22 batters after giving up 3 hits to the first 3 batters of the game. He really settled down only giving up 1 homer to Brandon Wood.

Jose Reyes was robbed of a hit on his Sac fly, Duda ran the Mets out of the inning as he was doubled off first. This stopped the rally the Mets had going only resulting in 1 run for the inning.

Daniel Murphy just keeps hitting, and hitting, and hitting.

Tejada got another hit and made another great defensive play tonight, he is really playing well for the team.

Mets Post Game: Mets 7, Pirates 0

By the Numbers:

  • Chris Capuano went 7 strong innings letting up 0 runs on 3 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 5.
  • Jose Reyes had another huge day going 3 for 5 with a solo homer.
  • Scott Hairston had a pinch hit solo homer back to back with Reyes.
  • Carlos Beltran had a 2 run single.
  • Daniel Murphy had 2 hits today.

Capuano was great today as he kept the pirates off balance and didn’t allow a run to score. He has been a great 5th starter.

Jose Reyes was Jose Reyes…again.

The play where Murphy scored on the sac fly was weird because it took awhile to notice that it was Pagan not Murphy that was called out, good thing they scored.

Murphy has been such an underrated hitter all year long and is second in the NL in batting average since May 21st, only lower than Reyes.

Back to back homers for what seemed like the first time all year just what this team needs!

The offense and rotation is rolling…this could be a very good stretch for this team.

Mets Post Game: Pirates 3, Mets 2

By the Numbers:

  • Dickey started and threw a complete game loss giving up 3 runs on 8 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4.
  • Jose Reyes had ANOTHER multi-hit game as did Ruben Tejada.
  • Beltran and Murphy had RBI hits.
  • Lucas Duda hit a double.
  • Bay and Paulino had a hit each.

Dickey did not deserve the loss that he got tonight. He gave the bullpen a night off and really only deserved to give up 1 earned run. His year ERA is now below 4.

Jose Reyes gets multi-hit games every night it seems.

Bay actually got a hit! He is really messed up right now though.

Lucas Duda only had 1 hit, but he is killing the ball since his re-call.

I am now a believer in the hitter that Ruben Tejada can be. Really doing a good job for this team.

Mets Post Game: Mets 8, Pirates 1

By the Numbers:

  • Dillon Gee went 8 magnificent innings letting up 8 hits, 1 run, no walks, and 5 strikeouts.
  • Jose Reyes went 3 for 5 with a solo homer.
  • Angel Pagan had a double, triple, and RBI tonight.
  • Justin Turner had a 2 run single.
  • Lucas Duda had an RBI single and Sac fly.
  • Josh Thole had 3 hits and an RBI.
  • Carlos Beltran also had an RBI and a hit.

Dillon Gee is just a great all around pitcher. He does not have ace like stuff but, he is surely pitching like an ace this year. He simply knows how to pitch and can execute even after a rough first. A 7-0 start for arguably the most underrated rookie on the season.

For some reason the Mets can rake against Charlie Morton when no other team can, now if only they could hit the ACTUAL Halladay…

Jose Reyes….you guys know the drill. AMAZING!

Josh Thole and Ruben Tejada have really turned it on this year hitting very well at positions the Mets were unsure of coming into the year.

Lucas Duda looks like a different hitter from earlier this year. He has so much power and he hit the ball so much harder than a 1 for 4 night tonight.

I love watching this non-power lineup for the Mets, getting hits with runners on has been where they have thrived during this good stretch for the offense. Power baseball is exciting, but line drives and singles can be great too.

Mets Post Game: Pirates 9, Mets 3

By the Numbers:

  • Chris Capuano went 6+ innings, let up 8 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
  • Justin Turner hit a homer tonight, that is bigger than it sounds.
  • Ruben Tejada had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
  • Beltran and Murphy each had 2 hits also.
  • Beato let up 3 runs in one inning while Dale Thayer had a scoreless outing.

Chris Capuano pitched SO much better thanĀ  his line. Once again he had a shutout through 6 innings and then just fell apart in the 7th.

Justin Turner’s homer ended a 10 game drought for the Mets today If you think about it they is at least 97 homerless innings.

Ruben Tejada has produced so well offensively for him, he has been great all year.

The Mets are just going through one blow up inning per game. It was the 7th and 8th tonight. Our bullpen just flat out sucks lately. They need to get their act back together.

Mets Post Game: Pirates 5, Mets 1

By the Numbers:

  • R.A. Dickey went 7 2/3 strong innings giving up 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Through 7 he had allowed 2 hits 0 runs and struck out 9.
  • Pagan and Murphy had 2 hits each today.
  • Jason Bay had an RBI single in the first inning, however the ball went 40 ft.
  • Bobby Parnell struggled in his return giving up 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning.
  • The bottom 4 of the lineup went hitless tonight.

Dickey was so much better than his line tonight. He did not at all deserve the loss tonight. 2 hits thorough 7 innings was just spectacular and he struck out a career high 10 batters. This looks like the Dickey from 2010.

Parnell still let down the Mets tonight, I do not know what is wrong with him. He has good stuff but he is a thrower not a pitcher.

It is really great to see Pagan back into form after returning from the DL. He is a huge part to this team.

This team can not hit a homer anymore.

Mets Post Game: Mets 6, Pirates 2

The Numbers:

  1. Mike Pelfrey started for the Mets going 7 strong innings, 6 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. He also had an RBI single.
  2. Feliciano and Parnell each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
  3. Lucas Duda went 2 for 4 with a 2 run double.
  4. Angel Pagan had 3 hits including and 2 RBI tonight.
  5. Ike Davis went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
  6. Josh Thole went 2 for 4.

Mike Pelfrey has set his new career high in wins with 15. He still has more pitching to do also.

Angel Pagan has looked good at the plate and also made a great catch in center field.

A 4 game sweep of the Pirates…I know its the Pirates, but a 4 game sweep is a 4 game sweep.

Another come back win for the Mets, good job guys.

Mets Post Game: Mets 8, Pirates 7

The Numbers:

  1. Jenrry Mejia started going 2 1/3 innings letting up 0 hits, 1 run (unearned), 2 walks, and a strikeout. He left the game with an injury.
  2. Jose Reyes got 2 hits including a solo home run.
  3. Valdes, Misch, Dessens, Feliciano, Parnell, and Takahashi finished off the game.
  4. Ike Davis got an RBI double, Hessman got an RBI hit, Pagan had 2 RBI, and Arias got an RBI.
  5. Takahashi is 7 for 7 in save chances this year.

The Mets were down 5-0 in this game before they came backĀ  with a 7 run inning.

I hope hope hope Mejia is okay. I would be okay if he was shut down for the rest of the year as a precautionary reason.

If the Mets could finish hot this year, it could carry over to 2011.

This was the first 3 game winning streak for the Mets since spring.

Mets Post Game: Mets 9, Pirates 1

The Numbers:

  1. R.A. Dickey went the distance tonight giving up 1 run and 5 hits striking out 4.
  2. Ruben Tejada had a career night going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
  3. Carlos Beltran went 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBIs.
  4. Angel Pagan went 3 for 5 with a 3 run double.
  5. Jose Reyes went 2 for 4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.

Dickey was amazing again…im shocked.

Ruben Tejada looks to be catching fire to end the year…this could add to the youngsters confidence.

If Carlos Beltran can start hitting home runs like he is capable of…the Mets can play MAJOR spoiler.

Angel Pagan gets a hit with the bases loaded and 2 outs…that has not happened a lot this year.

Mets Post Game: Mets 1, Pirates F/10

The Numbers:

  1. Dillon Gee started for the Mets tonight going 6 shutout innings striking out 3 and walking 4.
  2. Dessens and Feliciano pitched a scoreless inning each.
  3. Hisanori Takahashi pitched 2 scoreless innings and got the win.
  4. Tejada hit a pinch hit double in the 10th inning and was singled on a pinch hit by Nick Evans.

Not bad…a team out of it can still get a walk off win.

Dillion Gee’s ERA through 2 starts as a big leaguer is the same as Pelfrey’s through April…0.69.

A win is a win…
