Mets Post Game: Mets 4, Giants 3 F/10

What’s Important:

Hitting:

  1. Ike Davis went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. He drove in an insurance run and the go ahead run in the 10th inning.
  2. Jason Bay hit 3 singles today and scored the go ahead run for the Mets.
  3. David Wright only had 1 hit and 1 RBI but he hit his 15th home run of the season to give the Mets their first lead of the series.

Pitching:

  1. Johan Santana was great today and pitched 8 innings of 1 run baseball. He struck out 5 batters and walked 1. He was in line for the win until K-Rod blew the save.
  2. K-Rod blew a save but got the win in 2 innings of work. He however, did not pitch well today.

Grade for the Game: A-

A win is what the Mets needed and that’s what they got. Ike Davis had a huge day for the Mets and so did Jason Bay and David Wright. Wright showed today that his first half power surge was no fluke. The Mets now have momentum going into the break.

Mets Post Game: Giants 8, Mets 4

What’s Important:

Hitting:

  1. Ike Davis got his first 2 hits since after the all-star break tonight both of which were home runs. He had 3 RBIS and hit one into the water.
  2. Carlos Beltran got 2 hits tonight one of which was a triple where he flew around the bases.
  3. David Wright went 1 for 3 with an RBI tonight.

Pitching:

  1. K-Rod pitched a perfect 8th inning striking out 2 batters.
  2. Fernando Nieve Pitched 1 1/3 hitless, scoreless innings while striking out 2.
  3. Raul Valdes pitched 2 1/3 innings and even though he gave up 2 runs, he ate up a good portion of the ball game.

Grade for the Game: B-

Ike and Beltran came through tonight with basically all of the teams offense. This might have got them back on track. Takahashi is not a starter and the Mets know that. If I were Omar, Pat Misch would be starting.
