Mets Post Game: Mets 3, Yankees 2 F/10

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Jason Bay delivered the walk-off single in the 10th inning, his 2nd hit of the day.
  2. Ronny Paulino hit a pinch hit RBI single to tie the game against Rivera in the 9th.
  3. Dickey pitched 5 innings and left with a glut strain after 5 innings.

What a huge win for the Mets today, they got a blown save out of Mariano Rivera and then won the game in the 10th. This is exactly what the Mets needed after 2 tough losses to the Yanks. Great way to end interleague play for the season.

I hope Jason bay can finish this season as hot as he was against the American League. It was real good to see Jason get the hit today.

Ronny Paulino is a great catcher. A sensational signing by Alderson.

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Jon Niese let up 3 runs on 9 hits over 6 innings. He struck out 7 and walked 2.
  2. Ruben Tejada had an RBI single.
  3. Justin Turner was 3 for 5 tonight.

The Mets just made too many mental mistakes tonight. Jose Reyes was thrown out at 3rd late in the game down by 2, and Murphy let a ball skip off his glove that resulted in a run. I am ok with the aggressiveness by Reyes because he was trying to make something happen (and also he was safe.) Murphy, on the other hand, should have jumped to get the ball so it did not go behind him.

Jon Niese pitched very well tonight. He struggled in the first against the tough Yankee lineup, but settled in getting 5 called strike 3 pitches mostly with his curveball. He has been great this year and didn’t deserve the loss.

The Mets played just ugly baseball tonight. They were not executing plays and stranding runners on base over and over again.

Mets Post Game: Tigers 5, Mets 2

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Murphy went 2 for 4 with a homerun off Justin Verlander.
  2. Pelfrey started and went 4 2/3 innings and let up 8 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned, walked 5, and struck out 3.
  3. Reyes and Bay had 2 hits a piece.

Pelfrey flat out was terrible today. He did not have an out pitch. It was just foul ball after foul ball after foul ball. He didn’t throw inside at all and was afraid of his fastball.

Murphy is such an underrated hitter in the NL. He is over .300 with 5 homers this year. He is a great hitter.

The bullpen was great not allowing a run through 4 1/3 innings pitched.

Verlander was just too much for the Mets today. Go get the Yankees tomorrow.

Mets Post Game: Mets 16, Tigers 9

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Angel Pagan went 4 for 6 with 4 RBI including 2 doubles.
  2. Daniel Murphy drove in 4 runs on 2 clutch 2 run singles with the bases loaded and 2 outs.
  3. Jason Bay went 1 for 2 with 4 walks and an RBI single.

Wow…that is all I can say, WOW.

This team is doing everything right. They are working the count and just hitting line drives. This team is so clutch getting endless hits with 2 outs and RISP. This is the most I have enjoyed watching this team in a long time.

Pagan is starting to get some hits off of left handed pitchers, that is great for him to start getting hot.

Cap was good tonight, his only blemish was 2 Miguel Cabrera homers.

The Mets were 10-17 with 2 outs tonight, that is a huge number.

I am Speechless…the AMAZIN’ METS ARE BACK!!!!

Mets Post Game: Rangers 8, Mets 1

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Jason Bay went 3 for 4 with 3 singes.
  2. Manny Acosta gave up 4 runs in less than 2 innings.
  3. Ruben Tejada had an RBI single.

Pelfrey wasn’t terrible toinght, he gave up 3 of his runs in the first and then settled down a little bit walking only 2 on the night. He has really turned his season around from his rough start early in the year.

It was really good to see Jason Bay do very well again. Maybe it is just facing AL pitchers again. Remember he hit a homer (almost 2) against CLE earlier in the year and hit 2 against NYY last season. Very strange if you ask me.

Manny Acosta is simply a bad pitcher, no other way to say it.

Mets Post Game: Mets 3, A’s 2 F/13

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. R.A. Dickey was phenomenal going 8 innings, letting up 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 9 Athletics.
  2. K-Rod blew the save in the 9th for his 3rd of the year and his 2nd in a row.
  3. Justin Turner had a clutch go-ahead RBI single and a walk-off Hit by pitch.

Dickey had so much movement tonight and honestly had no-hit stuff. His Knuckler was moving so well. He made one mistake to Suzuki that was a homer and Hairston lost the other ball in the lights. Too bad that K-Rod blew the save for him.

Turner finds new ways to drive in runs every night. Tonight he drove in a run on a HBP and he is the Mets most clutch player so far this year.

Bay regressed again, so I don’t know when he will return to his old form.

The Mets bullpen (besides K-Rod) was so good tonight not giving up a run over 4 innings and striking out 5.

They had the strikeout pitch going tonight striking out 16 Athletics.

Mets Post Game: A’s 7, Mets 3

Box Score

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Jason Bay went 3 for 3 with a walk, triple, and Homer. He almost had 2 homers, but video review showed the ball hitting off Crisps glove, not the wall in center.
  2. Dillon Gee had no control tonight going 4 innings, letting up 4 runs, and walked 6.
  3. Jose Reyes went 0 for 5 with 5 flyballs.

Dillon Gee just could not throw a strike tonight. He only gave up 3 hits, just a ton of walks. This was his first bad start of the year.

The Mets walked 2 with the bases loaded. That is simply unacceptable…strikes are a MUST in today’s game.

Jason Bay could have broken out of his rut today. 3 hits and almost 2 home runs. Hopefully this will jumpstart his season for the Mets.

3 Standout Performances:

  1. Angel Pagan went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI singles.
  2. Ronny Paulino had 2 doubles and an RBI.
  3. Capuano gave up 3 runs(2 earned) on 8 hits over 6 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 5.

You could tell the team felt the pressure from that loss last night. They just didn’t look the same as they did on that roadtrip. Hopefully, that will be gone by tomorrow.

Ronny Paulino has hit great all year long, he drove 2 doubles today, one in the gap and one down the line. He has been great so far this year.

Pagan is a different hitter since his return from the DL.

I am making no excuses, but Jordan Walden (the Angels closer) has filthy stuff. That slider of his is nearly unhittable. I tip my hat to him.

This team has so much more fight that we did last year.
