Mets Sign Francisco, Rauch

The Mets were not just trading tonight, they were signing relievers. We grabbed the tallest pitcher in major league history and a reliever with great stuff and potential. Frank had an up and down year last year, but if he is right, he is good. Rauch got 1 year 3.5MM and Francisco got 2 yrs 12MM. Maybe a little too much for Francisco but I’ll live.

Mets Trade K-Rod to the Brewers

The Mets and Brewers announced today that they have completed a trade for closer Francisco Rodriguez and cash for 2 players to be named later. K-Rod will be the new Brewers set-up man.The Mets will get to pick 2 players from a pool of guys to complete the trade.

This is one contract that the Mets needed to get rid of. We could not allow ourselves to pay K-Rod 17.5MM in 2012 because he finished 55 games this season. I have a feeling that Sandy is going to pick 2 great young guys to finish the trade. As for the closers role, Izzy, I believe will not get it. He is too old and can not take the innings. I believe it is in-between Parnell and Beato. I would like to see Beato, however I believe Parnell will be the new closer of the Mets. The white flag has not yet been waved by Alderson. Best of luck to K-Rod in Milwaulkee. Lets Go Mets!

Mets Post Game: Mets 3, Astros 1

The Numbers:

  1. Carlos Beltran had 2 hits including a homer and David Wright had 3 singles tonight.
  2. Jeff Francoeur hit an RBI triple to give the Mets an insurance run.
  3. Jon Niese went 7 strong innings while allowing 1 run. He did not earn a win.
  4. Hisanori Takahashi closed out the game tonight pitching a hitless 9th with a strikeout.

Niese deserved a win today…oh well.

It was good to see Wright get some hits..he is really struggling.

Carlos homered tonight which is a very good sign.

Grade for the Game: B+
