What’s Important:
Hitting:
- Angel Pagan had a great day going 3 for 5 with a run scored including a big 2 out triple.
- Ike Davis blasted a huge home run off of Derek Lowe to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. This home run was to straight away center field and looked about 430 feet as it flew over the apple.
- Josh Thole hit a big pinch hit single in the 8th inning to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.
Pitching:
- Johan Santana was great going 7 shutout innings giving up 5 hits 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Today’s game got his ERA to under 3 for the half.
- K-Rod for ONCE pitched a clean 1-2-3 9th inning to notch the save for the Mets and keep the sweep from happening.
- Bobby Parnell pitched a scoreless 8th while striking out Chipper Jones. I think Chipper misses Shea.
Grade for the Game: A
No homer for Santana but, he still pitched great with his 7 shutout frames. Ike’s home run was an absolute bomb to straight away center field. Thole was great and so was Pagan. Next time that I write a post game report, Carlos Beltran will be included.
